International Arts Movement

I recently discovered an organization called International Arts Movement, led by artist and creative director, Makoto Fujimura. IAM is based in New York. Their vision statement is as follows:

IAM gathers artists and creative catalysts to wrestle with the deep questions of art, faith and humanity in order to inspire the creative community to engage the culture that is and create the world that ought to be.

Art is society's existential statement, in answer to the question, "Why live?" International Arts Movement works as a catalyst to inspire people to hope, engage deeply into the depth of culture's critical zones, and create a world that ought to be. We believe that artistic excellence as a model of "what ought to be" paves the way for lasting, enduring humanity.

Looks like they are doing some exciting work! I will enjoy learning more.

Welcome

Welcome to Kit's brand new blog. On this site, you will find artwork created by me and my friends at the Imago Art Studio in Chiang Mai, Thailand. There will also be periodic postings of my reflections on the synthesis of the arts, spirituality, positive social transformation, community resilience, and economic empowerment of marginalized people. I welcome your interactive responses to my reflections.

This watercolor is a painting which I finished a few weeks ago representing a bubbly underwater landscape. This exploration into bright colors was fun to paint and depicts the joy I experience in my spiritual life with Jesus.
